Why put my opinions on the Web? I dunno, because it's there, I guess. I've arranged my random ravings into a few different categories:
Plus some other stuff that bugs or pleases me:
I want an automatic idiot filter for newsgroups and email. Every newsreader/email program should let you ding somebody as 'jerk' or 'saint', with a central server that records an jerk-->saint measure for everybody. And I should be able to filter out people that everybody agrees are jerks.
Why use Price/Earnings ratio for stocks? Earnings can be zero, giving the P/E formula a nasty singularity. An E/P ratio would be much better. And don't even get me started on the stupidity of using 40 stocks as the benchmark measure of the stock market...
I really like the idea of online, consumer-to-consumer auctions like EBay. I especially like the idea of attaching an online reputation to people, determined by the people they've dealt with in the past. Very spiffy.
Stock markets are converting from fractional to decimal pricing. Cool. I can never remember how to enter "seven-sixteenths" into Quicken...
